Blind Owner Buys Colt (N.Z. Press Assn.—-Copyright) SYDNEY. A man who trains racehorses as a hobby has bought, at the Sydney yearling sale, a yearling thoroughbred that he will never see. Mr Leo Rose, of Wyong, 40 miles north of Sydney. bought the horse after a two-hour examination by touch. He is blind He paid 900 dollars for the colt, by an American sire. Royal Sjena, from Bird of Peace. Mr Rose said that he spent two hours last Friday examining the colt. He went over the colt from head to tail, checking his conformation and muscular development. “I know when my horses are fit by touch,” he said. “Bird of Peace, the dam of the colt I bought, is a sister to Wild Bird, with which I won seven races. Although I was interested in his breeding I had to go over the colt myself to makej sure he was well formed. “I think I have an advant-! age on those W’ho go only oni what they can see,” he said. 1
