Infanticide Charge

ROTORUA, April 16. An interim order for the suppression of name was made when a 32-year-old woman appeared in the Rotorua Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of murder.

The order was made by Messrs B. J. Reeder and F. C. Salt, Justices of the Peace, after a discussion in chambers with the prosecuting officer (Detective Senior-Ser-geant J. F. Collins) and counsel (Mr G. T. O’Sullivan). The woman was charged with the murder of her child at Rotorua earlier today, and was remanded under section 37 of the Mental Health Act to Tokanui Hospital till May 6, when she will return to the court.
