Air Merger Plan

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, April 16. Britain’s two state-run airlines, British European Airways (8.E.A.) and British Overseas Airways Corporation were reported today to be resisting Government moves to merge them. Press reports said the merger was expected to be recommended by an independent committee set up by the Government last July. The reports said the Government was unlikely to oppose the plan. The main advantages of a merger would be savings on capital costs and on staff.
