Cherub Winner Had Sold His Yacht
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. R. Bowler of Auckland vesterday won his second New Zealand Cherub class yachting championship in as many attempts. Bowler, needing only to start in yesterday’s fifth and final race at Muritai, Eastbourne, led by 100 yards at the first mark, then withdrew. Then he and his crew, D McGlashan, packed their redhulled Mecca on to its trailer and announced that they were off to Napier to deliver it to a new owner. Serendipity, owned by another Auckland pair, P. and B. Walker, was second. It has also been sold to a Napier buyer. Both combinations are expected to concentrate on sailing in the Q-class, the glamour unrestricted 12-footer.
