Pope Paul Unwell

(N.Z.P A.-Reuter —Copyright? VATICAN CITY, April 14. Pope Paul’s health is causing some concern in the Vatican, according to United Press International. Vatican sources say the frail, 70-year-old Pontiff has failed to recover as well as expected from his operation last November, for the removal of an enlarged prostate gland. They add that there is no reason for alarm but, they say, the Pope has curtailed his activities on doctor’s orders.

Pope Paul has obviously been fatigued by the Holy Week ceremonies, although his own participation in them has been less strenuous than in past years. Because he continues to feel unwell, he has reduced the number of audiences he has given in recent months. During Lent he has made only three visits to parish churches in Rome, instead of going out every Sunday as in past years.
