Damage To Bridges
(N Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 14 Many bridges and approaches in Southland have been damaged, but to what extent and how many will not be known until the water recedes Water covers many approaches, and in some cases the bridges themselves. On the Invercargill-Winton highway, a bridge only five years old collapsed. At least six bridges or their approaches have been dam aged and are impassable. Others, it is hoped, will hold, but piles on many will be damaged.
