Fine For Late Scratching
G. B. Noble, the trainer of Bewitched, was fined $2O for the late scratching of the filly from the President’s Stakes at Add ington Raceway on Saturday. Saladin was scratched from the same event on veterinary advice. Glen Bell was relegated from fourth to fifth after the running of the Wilkins Handicap. She had galloped during the concluding stages of the race. Arita was promoted from fifth to fourth. G. L. Mitchel, trainer-driver of Amend, was questioned about the breaking of his horse about three furlongs after the start of the Easter Cup Consolation Race. It was found that Amend broke when free of interference and checked Snowline. No more action was taken. After the Easter Cup Final, D. C. Watts. F. E. Newfield and M. Holmes were questioned about an incident at the straight entrance. It was found that the field was packed tightly at the time and when Calm Autumn gave ground quickly a number of horses were inconvenienced. The worst sufferer was Miles Gentry.
