SHARP DROP IN BETTING
Betting fell sharply at Adding* ton Raceway on Saturday when the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club held the last day of its Easter meeting. The crowd of 8079 was one of the smallest to attend the course on Easter Saturday. This was no doubt affected by light rain which fell early in the morning. The track, which was soft early, improved later when the weather cleared. On-course betting on Saturday amounted to $212,916, including $33,567 on the two doubles, compared with $313,696. The offcourse total was $138,041.50, compared with $157,572.50. On-course betting for the meeting amounted to $577,909, compared with $706,001. OfTcourse the drop was not so heavy. Betting from this source amounted to $578,877, compared with $595,690.
