SCHOOLS’ CRICKET

Game Ends In Draw

The annual cricket match between Christ’s College and Nelson College petered out to a tame draw yesterday when Nelson College batted solidly to score 222 for four wickets in its second innings. A token declaration gave Christ’s College some batting time but without any chance of scoring the 177 runs needed for victory in the short time available.

The Nelson College captain, N. Whiteman, made a splendid 107 not out including 12 fours in an Innings which lasted 160 minutes. The fifthwicket partnership between Whiteman and R. Snowden produced 135 runs in 125 minutes. NELSON COLLEGE First Innings 219 Second Innings R. Neale c Cowies b McLennon 5 J. Rackly lbw b Fulton . 16 S. Garguilo c Cowles b McLennon 36 A.
