Private Swimming Pools
Sir,—As a mother of young children in a street where there is a private swimming pool, I would like to know if the owners are obliged by law to have the pool completely fenced off from the road. The pool in question is easily accessible from the road, the section unfenced, and the owners away ail day. A wandering child could easily make its way in.—Yours, etc., SAFETY FIRST.
January 24, 1968. [The Town Clerk (Mr M. B. Hayes) replies: “I am not aware of any legal obligation requiring owners to fence off private swimming pools on their properties. It is suggested that a personal approach be made to the owner concerned to see whether the danger-can be eliminated.’’]
