Criticism “Unjust”
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Criticism of his son’s nonappearance in the Auckland tennis championships and the Wills international tournament was unjust, Mr N. Fairlie, father of the national champion, B. E. Fairlie, said yesterday. Auckland officials expressed disappointment when Fairlie elected to go fishing instead of appearing in one or both tournaments. Mr Fairlie said that before both tournaments it had been decided his son needed a holiday. “He’s not a machine and cannot be expected to play in every tournament,” he added.
