Casper shot a four-under-par *B, In a virtually perfect round on Saturday for a 72-hole score of 278 in the 90-hole *131,000 Bob Hope Desert golf classic. The Australian Bruce Devlin was three strokes behind Casper on tn. Casper, 11 strokes under par after four rounds, goes into the final IS holes with a precarious one-stroke lesd over A. Palmer, whose 71 gave him ISO. Casper, who last week won the *lOO,OOO Los Angeles Open, hit every green successfully and two-putted every green except the four he birdied.

J. Newcombe beat R. Taylor (Britain) 91-23 and 31-25. but his team-mate, A. Roche, had a tougher time with C. Drysdale (South Africa). Drysdale forced Roche into the tournament’s second nine-point overtime. Roche breesed through the first game 31-19, but bowed 29-31 tn the second. He edged Drysdale 5-3 In the tie-breaker.
