Transfer To Christchurch Lichfield, N.Z., Ltd, will close its Auckland fac* ry and transfer the plant and machinery to its main factory in Christchurch to make sporting knitwear. A director of the company (Mr J. G. Aston) said yesterday that the firm had found it could use the roll-on, roll-off ferries for efficient national distribution from Christchurch. Urgent orders were sent by air so that goods sought in the morning by telephone to Christchurch were in Auckland by 4.30 p.m. The transfer of plant and machinery from Auckland to Christchurch over the Christmas holiday period had been costly in the short term but it would cut administration costs, he said.
