(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Play on the first day of the national senior boys’ and girls’ softball tournament, yesterday, resulted: —
Boys.—Hutt Valley 13, Canterbury 2; Wellington 6, Southern King Country 1; Hutt Valley 7, Waikato 6; Canterbury 15, Southern King Country 11; Wei lington 8, Canterbury 3. Girls.—Wellington 19, Southern King Country 0; Hutt Valley 18, Bay of Plenty 7; Hutt Valley 18, Southern King Country 1: Wellington 14, Bay of Plenty 1.
Rugby Tour.—As a build-up for next season, the Ponsonby Rugby team has planned a tour of Japan from March 6 to March 27, at the invitation of the Japanese Rugby Union. The team would play six games, five in Japan and one in Hong Kong. A preliminary request for the tour has gone to the Auckland Rugby Union for approval.
