Opposition To U.S. Peace Bid
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, Jan. 22 About 300 Roman Catholics, refugees from North Vietnam more than a decade ago, have urged the South Vietnamese Government to reject any peace solution initiated by the United States. The refugees, traditionally among the staunchest antiCommunist elements in South Vietnam, passed a resolution condemning efforts to recognise the Communistled National Liberation Front or to negotiate with it. The strongly-worded resolution reflected concern that the United States “could be manoeuvring for negotiations with the N.L.F., and the possible formation of a coalition government which would include the Communists.” President Johnson and other United States officials have repeatedly denied this intention.
