Forecast: Canterbury.—North-easterlies about the coast and plains mainly moderate but fresh in a few exposed places; moderate north-westerlies predominating elsewhere; occasional rain in the Alps but some long fair periods tomorrow; partly cloudy weather over the foothills, plains and coast; warm during the day inland, mild about the coast. Marlborough Sounds. —Winds from between north and west mainly moderate but fresh at times in some exposed places; mild with skies cloudy at times; a few scattered showers. Central Marlborough, Kaikoura Coast.— Northerlies predominating, mainly moderate but fresh at times in some exposed places; variable cloud; a few scattered showers about the ranges; becoming warmer. Nelson.—Moderate northerly or westerly winds; occasional rain about the western ranges; possibly clearing in the afternoon; elsewhere variable cloud with isolated showers; mild.
