Four Changes In Auckland XI
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. Four changes, including the selection of D. Hill and the omission of D. J. Millener, have been made in the Auckland cricket team which will play Wellington in a Plunket Shield match at Eden Park on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
T. W. Jarvis, the test opener, was not available through injury and thus his chances of retaining his place for the tests against the touring Indians in February and March must be minimal. He has been replaced as a batsman by Hill, the former Canterbury batsman who was dropped after one game for Auckland earlier this season. The other two changes have been caused by the return of the two injured New Zealand players R. S, Cunls, the
medium- fast bowler, and R. I. Harford, the wicket-keeper. Cunis has taken Millener’s place and Harford has replaced R. A. Dykes, wicket-keeper in Auckland's four earlier matches this summer. R. C. Hooten, twelfth man in Auckland's last match, against Northern Districts, will also be twelfth man against Wellington. The team, selected by Messrs G. O. Rabone, D. Taylor and B. J. Postles, is:—J. T. Sparling (captain), R. J. Kasper, R. W. Morgan, D. Hill, M. G. Burgess, J. G. Kemp, G. E. Vivian, R. S. Cunis, R. E. Sutton, H. J. Howarth, R. I. Harford. Twelfth man R. C. Hooten.
