BOILERS SOLD
Exports To Singapore (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 16. A New Zealand firm has won orders from Singapore for two packaged steam boilers against world competition. The orders have been booked by Mason International, Ltd, the export organisation for the Mason Brothers Group. The boilers will be built by Andersons, Ltd, of Christchurch, a subsidiary of the group. One will go to a chocolate and chocolate drink factory, the first of its type in SouthEast Asia, which is expected to be one of the showpieces of the Singapore industrial area. A Singapore engineering firm, Alliance Engineering, Ltd, has ordered the second boiler. The orders result from a visit to South-East Asia by the manager of Mason International (Mr M. R. G. Muschamp) towards the end of last year with a New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation trade mission. “Without the assistance of Government export incentives, it would have been very difficult for us to have got these order* in the face of competition from the world,” said Mr Muschamp in Auckland today. Mr Muschamp said that inquiries for boilers had also come from Burma. Hong Kong and Thailand.
