Union Cover Wanted
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 8. The Northern and Taranaki Labourers’ Union decided today to seek union coverage for all tunnellers employed by the Italian consortium on the Tongariro power-project Cod-elfa-Cogefar. This was announced by the secretary of the union (Mr H. Kay) at the end of a two-day conference in Auckland. Mr Kay said the labourers’ union was still inquiring into the formation of a local committee of the New Zealand Workers’ Union on the site of the No. 1 tunnel contract.
