Drivers’ Competition
Sir, —I thank Mr Cooper for his reply, and assure him that I no longer have any ploughing problems. Time was when I covered approximately 800 acres per annum with the plough, and problems seem to have been dealt with as they arose, just as Mr Cooper will have to deal with his problems. When he talks of having 94 trucks at the Driver of the Year contest, Mr Cooper allows his sarcasm to run away with his common sense. Two trucks in each class are all that would be required if these were supplied by non-contest-ants. Drivers in the contest should not be permitted to use trucks supplied by themselves or their employers; each driver would then have an equal choice of vehicles. Regarding cost, I would be pleased to buy a dollar’s worth of diesel fuel to see a genuine contest. Mr Cooper should never forget that only fair play is bonny play.— Yours, etc., D. ROBERTSON. December 1, 1967.
