<N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Nov. 3. New Zealand's major art ( award, the University of I Otago’s Frances Hodgkins (Fellowship, has been awarded ito Mr Derek Ball, of Auck- ! land, for 1968. Mr Ball is the third holder (of the fellowship which was set up by a group of friends of the University of Otago. A painter who received his professional training at the University of Auckland’s School of Fine Art, Mr Ball won the annual prize in fine arts on two occasions and gained a senior scholarship. He was awarded a diploma in fine arts with honours in painting in 1966. Mr Ball exhibited work on a number of occasions while a student, and his first oneman exhibition was held in Wellington this year. For the last year, Mr Ball has been attending the Auckland Secondary Teachers College as a student teacher.
