Round Of 66 By Farrant
R. M. Farrant, who took J. D. Durry to the nineteenth in the New Zealand amateur championship, yesterday beat the course record at Windsor by two strokes.
However, his round of 66, six under par, will not be ratified because he was playing in a friendly match. Now aged 22, Farrant scored eight birdies during the round, six of them at consecutive holes.
He dropped strokes only at the first and fourteenth holes. His six consecutive birdies were scored between the fourth and ninth, his other two were at the final two holes.
The official course record at Windsor stands at 68. set by K. D. Foxton. who has since turned professional.
