Club Title To Boy
G. Titmus, a 16-vear-old boy in his first year out of school, won the Templeton Golf Club's championship yesterday—although he only recently joined the club and this year is the first in which he has taken the game seriously.
Titmus beat L. Hartley, 3 and 2, in the final to win the championship, which is usually dominated by R. E. Clements. However, Clements went out in an earlier round. Titmus qualified for the final with a win at the twentieth against J. Teehan a fortnight ago. Titmus played at Tai Tapu earlier this year and won that club’s championship. To gain entrv to a larger club, he had to reduce his handicap. He lowered it to six and joined Templeton. In last year's local secondary school tournament. Titmus was brought into the Cashmere High School team at a late stage—although he attended Hillmorton High School and won all his four games.
