Cause Of Lameness

“The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON. Mannix’s lameness after his success in the Wellington Guineas at Trentham on Saturday was caused by a sesamoid fracture. His trainer* D. J. Riordan, took Mannix back to To Awamutu yesterday and the colt’s near-hoof was X-rayed as soon as he arrived. Riordan said last night that there was a fracture but he and Mannix’s owner, Mr H. McCarvlll, both felt that there was a good chance that the three-year-old would race again.

“It will take time,” said Riordan. “Mannix will not race this season.”
