Geyser Land and Gold Chick failed over 11 furlongs on the first day of the Auckland spring meeting, last Saturday, but not so badly as to lose their following for the cup, which is a mile and a half. They are stayers which will relish a mile and a , half at a strong pace. The Spring, Handicap, in which Gold Chick and Geyser , Land started last Saturday, was run at an uneven pace which ; counted against both horses. Gold Chick was fifth and Geyser Land fourth after they bad . been unusually prominent in the first six furlongs. Michael, Travel Alone and Chino seem the best prospects for the second leg of the T.A.B. double, the Epsom Handicap. Michael will be having his second race after a spell.
