Woman Wins Race

NEWMARKET (England) Miss sally Hall, riding the 10-year-old Sagely, yesterday won the Newmarket Town Plate—the only horse race under Jockey Club rules In which women are permitted to ride. The race was Instituted in 1(65. In its earliest days it was twice won by King Charles 11. Sagely, trained by Miss Hall’s brother-in-law, R. Jarvis, started 24 joint favourite In the 27horse field and won by three lengths from Drlnke Pinta, with Parthian Shaft third. It was Miss Hall’s second win In the race. In addition to the prize money she collected a magnum of champagne, a whip and a box of sausages.
