Grassmere Salt Works
Sir,—l thank Mr Walker for his information about the early days, and can confirm his statement concerning Mr L. C. Walker's activities. This raises in my mind a projected move, also, I think, early in the thirties, to secure salt from our own seas round here. If my memory serves me correctly, a company was formed with the intention of putting a salt refinery on the Estuary, just about opposite' Shag Rock, most of which is, of course, now roaded and built on. I wonder if any other “old-timer” can recall anything in that connexion.— Yours, etc., OLD SALT. May 30, 1967.
