Employment
Sir,—l agree with P. L. Bashford that the family man should be protected first where jobs are concerned. All superannuitants and those men who qualify for the age benefit should be dismissed from their jobs and the jobs given to men who have a family to support. My husband has been out of work for 10 weeks. Owing to a disability he is unable to do heavy work but is clever with his hands and would like very much to get a full-time position assembling things or doing any kind of light work where he could sit down mostly. Plenty of these jobs arc being held by men wbn should no longer be working but retired and getting the age benefit. Employers should do a bit of reshuffling and give the jobs to those who need them most.—Yours, etc., FAIR PLAY. May 30, 1967.
