Patience Limited
“We do not have unlimited patience,” the District Commissioner of Taxes (Mr C. K. Jones) said yesterday. He complained of the slowness of many employers in filing reconciliations of tax deductions made in the last financial year. He said that of the 13,600 reconciliations due on May 15, the Department had received less than 8000. Those who had not filed would soon get a warning and failure to take notice would lead to stronger measures. Up to yesterday the Department had received 32,000 returns from salary and wage earners and had issued more than 20,000 refunds. The department hopes to have the 70,000 returns expected processed before the introduction of decimal currency on July 10,
