Tournament Suggested

A suggestion from the Dunedin Bowling Centre that a quadrangular tournament should be held by Christchurch, Dunedin, North Otago, and South Canterbury received a luke-warm reception at a meeting of delegates of the Canterbury centre on Monday evening.

After a brief discussion it was decided to refer the matter to the centre's match committee.

Mr J. R. Smith said that If the quadrangular tournament was adopted it would reduce drastically the number of bowlers who would take part in representative matches.

A recommendation from the Elmwood Club that a North Island-South Island annual fixture could be played also was referred to the match committee.

Mr H. R. Pool (Elmwood) said that each of the South Island centres could supply two players for the representative team.

Messrs J. R. Smith, F. W. Larcombe and J. Moloney were elected as the Christchurch councillors on the New Zealand Bowling Association.

Good Start. —M. Hailwood (Britain), a double world chamBion, opened his 1967 score at ockenheim in Germany, by winning the West German motor-cycling grand prix in the 350 c.c. class on a Honda.
