Irish Have Big Win

Ireland scored a dashing 31-11 victory over the combined New South Wales Country XV at Wollongong yesterday. The Irish scored four great tries in the space of nine minutes in the second half and their win was a morale booster for next Saturday’s test against Australia. Ireland led, 15-3, at halftime.

For Ireland, K. Goodall, J. Murray, A. Duggan and C. M. Gibson scored tries, T. Kiernan kicked two penalty goals, two conversions and a field goal, and S. Hutton and Gibson kicked field goals. For the combined team, J. Prince and T. Dunnicliff scored tries, Prince converted one and J. Lenehan kicked a penalty goal.

Driver Killed.—The Brisbane speedway driver, D. Kelly, aged 33, was killed instantly in a five-car pHe-up during the Australian 30-lap grand prix.
