Obituary

MR J. C. MILLER The death occurred in Christchurch recently of Mr John Charles Miller at the age of 87. Mr Miller, who was the youngest son of the late Sir Henry J. Miller and Jessie Miller, of Oamaru, was the last of his generation of a once well-known Otago family. Mr Miller was educated at Christ’s College, and although he qualified as a solicitor, did not practise, but took up a bush farm near Te Kuiti shortly after his marriage. After the First World War, Mr and Mrs Miller travelled abroad for a number of years then returned and settled at Woodbury, near Geraldine. After his wife’s death some 30 years ago, Mr Miller came to Christchurch where he had been living in retirement. As a boy, Mr Miller was keen on sport and was a good horseman. At one time he played with the Pareora polo team.
