LEVEL OF JOBS

Reduction In Unemployed <N.Z. Pre»i Association) WELLINGTON, April 14. The number of unemployed in New Zealand remained at a negligible level at March 31, and fell by 22 on the previous month, said Minister of Labour (Mr Shand) today. District offices had reported some evidence of greater selectivity on the part of employers, but so far the situation was about normal for this time of the year, said Mr Shand. There was no difficulty in finding work for competent people. Mr Shand said that the number of registered vacancies (5577) continued to fall, although there were still many times more jobs available than there were registered unemployed.
