The West German Foreign Minister, Mr Willy Brandt, spoke out in Brussels on Monday in favour of Britain and other West European countries entering the Common Market. He was making a general policy statement on West Germany’s views about the future development of the six-nation European community to the Six’s Council of Ministers, which began a three-day meeting in Brussels on Monday. “We have received the impression that Great Britain and several other European Ffee Trade Association countries are serious in their wish to become members of the community," Mr Brandt said. “The position of Europe in the world would be considerably strengthened by an enlargement of the community. This is true not only for economic and technological reasons, but also from a political point of view."
