Returning Officer Ill
The returning officer for Fendalton for the next Saturday’s by-election (Mr J. F. Tasker) the district executive officer of the Health Department, has suffered a sudden illness, and his place will be taken by Mr V. R. Aitken, branch manager of the Valuation Department. Mr Aitken is returning officer for Lyttelton. Most of the preliminary organisation for the by-election has already been done by Mr Tasker, whose illness is not serious, but requires hospital treatment.
Tuberculosis Case.—A teenage girl In the Kaiapoi district was reported last week as having contracted pulmonary tuberculosis, the Health Department said yesterday. No other diseases were notified.
