Deerstalker Shot Dead
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, April 9. A deerstalker was killed on Saturday when another hunter mistook him for a deer near Rangitaiki, about 22 miles south of Napier. He was Hendrickus Lodwyk Kook, aged 36, married, with two children, of 27 Hall road, Manurewa. The two men were in separate shooting parties in dense bush near Poronui Station, along the Napier-Taupo road. Spotting a movement in the bush, one of the hunters fired his .308 rifle, and fatally injured another deerstalker.
