RESULTS IN U.S.
Peerswick was a recent major winner at Roosevelt Raceway, New York. He won in 2min, 4 2-ssec in a temperature of 15 degrees on a night when snow fell. Peerswick led from end to end in the mile race, which carried a stake of 20,000 dollars. Adios Marches finished fifth and the former New Zealand horse, Waiuku, seventh. Peerswick paid 29.20 dollars for a win. No other New Zealand-bred horses won that night Yakety Yak finished second and Bruce fifth in a race won in 2min 4 2-ssec, while Rothesay was sixth in 2min 7 2-ssec. Angelita was fifth in the same time, and Flying Look finished seventh in 2min 6 4-ssec. Five nights later, the Christ-church-owned Safe Return won a race of 5000 dollars in 2min 5 l-ssec, with a former Canterbury horse Heriot, finishing last.
