TROTTING Bright Warrior Winton Fancy

"The Press” Special Servlet INVERCARGILL. Bright Warrior, a winner at Roxburgh recently is expected to win the Au Revoir Handicap, the first mile race to be run in Southland for years, at the Winton Trotting Club’s autumn meeting today. Bright Warrior has won three races this season, and the Newport Chief four-year-old from Na 1 at the barrier should keep the field of milers busy. He has shown up as a competent front runner, and this will be all in his favour in a smartly-run race. The T-AJB. double will be on the Central Handicap and the Lochiel Handicap for which Roseland Beauty and Prince John will be a solidly supported pair. Both were winners on the Central Otago circuit over Easter.

The feature event on the card is the Winton Three-Year-Old Stakes, for which the Local Light filly, Bonnie Lindy, is the likely favourite. She has been placed in each of her last three starts including a second to the useful three-year-old, Johnny Kawa, at Roxburgh. There was rain at Winton yesterday but it has not affected the track which, however, may have the sting out of it Selections: — 11.30 «.m.—Browns Handicap No. X: Good Lord, Gay John, Sally’s Song. 12.5 p.m.—Heddon Bush Handicap: Indian Sabra, Globe Bell, Arion Song. 12.40 p.m.—Members* Handicap: Lady Gilda, Restabell, False Pride. 1.20 p.m.—Winton Three-year-old Stakes: Bonnie Lindy, Apt, Light Bmber.
