Today She Is 103
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREL March 15. Northland’s oldest citizen—and possibly New Zealand’s —Mrs Maria Kina-Totara, of Kaihu, will be 103 tomorrow. Mrs Kina-Totara, an independent, sprightly old lady who has not lost her interest in family and public affairs, was born at Hokianga, but has lived most of her life in the Kaihu area. She speaks only Maori, but this does not prevent her from enjoying television or attending Mass at least once a month. Her birthday will be a quiet family affair with her 88-year-oid sister and one or two nieces.
