FOURTH WIN
Curragh Dan Curragh Dan brought his record to four wins and a second from seven starts since his race debut at Washdyke in January when he beat a strong field in the Graduation Stakes at Addington last evening. It was a most impressive effort and stamped the Flying Song—Cuidado gelding as one of the top three-year-olds of the season. He is trained at Templeton by J. W. Smolensk! for Mrs F. J. Scott. Semloh, Cardinal King. Authentic, Demure (which was pulled up) and Gilt lost ground at the start.
Light Thaw set the pace from Corwar. outside Master Kent. Don Carlos moved to second inside the last six furlongs. Curragh Dan was twelfth at the half-mile, just behind Fort Nelson and Cardinal King. The field bunched on the home turn, with Light Thaw turning for home inside Don Carlos, Stylos, Dacron and Fort Nelson, which had Improved sharply. Master Kent, Curragh Dan, Kimberley Kid and Cardinal King were also handy. Curragh Dan mastered Fort Nelson inside the last half-fur-long and came on to win with a fair amount in hand by a length and a half. Kimberley Kid, switched from the rails to the outside, did well to finish second, a length in front of Cardinal King, which also had to change course in the run home. Corwar was a useful fourth, shading Fort Nelson, Stylos, Master Kent and Dacron
