PRODUCTION DRIVE
No Slowing By Squeeze (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Mar. 14. The production drive would not be slowed down because of the economic squeeze, the Director-General of Agriculture (Mr D. N. R. Webb) said today. The Agricultural Production Council had come to the conclusion that the production targets fixed by the Agricultural Development Conference were still valid, he said. The dip in wool and butter prices emphasised that there was a greater need for increased production. “We must achieve our targets and do better if possible,” said Mr Webb. “The businessman tries to increase turn-over to compensate for any cut in profit margins. The farmers must do the same ”
