DANGEROUS DRIVING
Youth Fined £5O (N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 14. A 20-year-old labourer, Wayne Robert Andrews, was today admitted to two years’ probation, disqualified from driving, and fined £5O by Mr Justice Hardie Boys on a charge of dangerous driving causing death. Andrews, who was appearing for sentence after being found guilty by a jury on March 8, was disqualified for two years.
The judge told Andrews he could apply to the Court after six months for an order authorising him to drive for the purpose of his work. The charge arose from the death of Leonard Brent Strong on June 26. Evidence was given during the trial that Mr Strong was riding a motor-cycle along a road at Milford about midnight without lights and collided with a car driven by Andrews going in the opposite direction on the wrong side.
