BUILDING WORK
Guarantees Planned (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, March 14. A scheme to guarantee the work of builders was today adopted in principle at the annual conference of the Master Builders’ Federation in Invercargill.
Final details of the scheme, when worked out, will be presented for adoption at the 1968 conference of the federation.
A sub-committee of the federation reported today that any guarantee scheme would have to have the following objectives: To ensure that no home owner is materially out of pocket through faulty building. To contribute towards an Improvement in standards and a better understanding between builders and purchasers. To protect reputable builders from the misdemeanors of the less reputable builders.
