Gold Dowa By Nose In Cup At Taranaki
Gold Dowa, ridden by the Auckland apprentice, D. Peake, raced splendidly on the second day of the Taranaki Jockey Club's autumn meeting at New Plymouth yesterday to win the Taranaki Cup, first leg of the T.A.B. double. Fifth with a round to go, Gold Dowa stretched out in the straight to nose Whakamoa out in a photo-finish, with' Inner Circle a nose away, third.
In the second leg, the Taranaki Sprint Handicap, Pay Bank won by a nose from Classical Glow, with Kurrewa a neck away, third.
The double. Gold Dowa and Pay Bank, paid £227 Is for £l. The track was good. The weather was fine, and there was a large attendance. On-course the totaMsator handled £3»,983, compared with
