River Flow Reduced
(N.Z. Press Aeeoeiation) OAMARU, March 13. The crisis at the Aviemore hydro-electric power project has passed, but the Waitaki river will continue to run at a high level for some weeks until lake storage is brought back to normal levels. The flow out of Lake Benmore has been reduced from 42,000 cusecs to 38,000 cusecs. This will enable the Aviemore diversion tunnel to continue to pass its 40,000 designed capacity of water and will result in a slow draining of the lake which has formed upstream of the top coffer dam on the project.
The Ministry of Works reported yesterday that river flows, after the 20 Inches of rain last week, had been steady since 5 a.m.
