Watersiders’ Late Start
Watersiders will not start work until 2 p.m. tomorrow because of altered train schedules. The Secretary of the Lyttelton Waterside Woikers’ Union (Mr R. K. Fergus) said on Friday that the men would cease work between 9 aan. and 2 p.m. but at that time it was understood that a train would leave port as usual at 9.23 a.m. The change in working plana has arisen because the last train before the stopwork meeting to leave Lyttelton will now be at 8.21 a.m. Shipping companies have been advised by the union of the change of plans. The Union Company has been advised that the normal handling of passengers* cars and luggage and also mails, will be attended to on the srrival of the inter-island steamer Maori.
