MARSDEN POWER
(N.Z. Press Association» WHANGAREI, March 12. The emphasis at the Marden power station project has moved from construction to a “start-up” phase, with April 22 as the target date for the initial turning over of the turbine to begin commissioning tests. The start-up programme begins in the final stages of construction and ends with the commissioning date of July 1 for unit L Start-up work includes the primary running of all permanent equipment and any specialised cleaning of equipment on which the functioning of permanent equipment depends, and testing of equipment, controls, instruments and complete systems.
Hawera Shake.—A slight earthquake was felt in Hawera at 6.35 p.m. today. No damage has been reported.— New Plymouth, March 12.
