Mrs Gandhi Leads Again

Press Assn. —Copyright) NEW DELHI, March 12, The Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi, was unanimously reelected as head of the Indian Government today in a strong display of unity by the Congress Party, the Associated Press reported. The party’s majority faction in Parliament chose Mrs Gandhi as its leader after nomination by the former Finance Minister, Mr Morarji Desai. Mr Desai yesterday withdrew his opposition to her, in return for being named Deputy Prime Minister in her next Cabinet. In accordance with the Indian constitution, the President, Mr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, will automatically ask Mrs Gandhi, as the leader of the majority party, to form a new Government.
