BUTTER QUOTA
Statement Expected
.(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 10. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) is expected to announce within the next three days New Zealand’s allocation under the United Kingdom butter quota for the 1967-68 quota year. Government sources said this morning that there was a possibility a statement could be made late today—but most considered it more probable that the announcement would be made on Monday morning. In the last quota year, the British Board of Trade allocated New Zealand a basic butter quota of 168,000 tons out of its total authorised quota of 435,500 tons. New Zealand has the right, under an exchange of letters 1 in 1963, to supply 40 per cent of total permitted butter imports on the British market.
Kaimai to SaiL—The Union Steam Ship Company motor vessel Kaimai which has been delayed at Lyttelton because of engine trouble, is expected to sail for Dunedin today. She returned to port on Wednesday evening, shortly after leaving for Dunedin, with a damaged cylinder liner.
