UNIVERSITY VACANCIES UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY READER, SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN POLITICAL SCIENCE APPLICATIONS are invited for the position of Reader, Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Political Science at this University. The salary of a Reader will be between £2BOO to £3300 per annum. The commencing salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience but it may be increased as a result of the review which is made at the beginning of each year. The salary attached to the position of Senior Lecturer or Lecturer is £l5OO to £2700 per annum subject to a bar at £2200 per annum. Practical experience is desirable and university teaching experience would be an advantage. Applicants should be members of a professional accounting institute or society. Preference will be given to applicants with a special interest in accounting theory, financial accounting or managerial accounting. LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER SCHOOL OF ANATOMY Applicants should have had appropriate teaching and research experience. Possession of a medical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. Facilities for a wide range of research, including electron microscopy, quantitative and qualitative cytology and tissue culture are available. LECTURER DEPARTMENT OF NUCLEAR and RADIATION CHEMISTRY SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY Applicants should have had previous research or teaching experience in the field of Nuclear Chemistry, and it is expected that they will possess a Ph.D. or equivalent qualifications. Duties include lecturing in advanced undergraduate courses, the supervision of research students, and a limited amount of lecturing to first year students in general chemistry. Excellent modern facilities are available for research in nuclear and radiation chemistry. Further information may be obtained from the Head of the School, Professor D. P. Mellor. LECTURER SCHOOL OF HIGHWAY ENGINEERING Previous research experience and corporate membership of a professional institute are desirable, but not essential. Knowledge of one or more of the following subjects is required: soil mechanics, land drainage, structural engineering and bridge design, reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete, photogrammetry, road location and design, road ebnstruction and maintenance, bituminous construction and design of bituminous mixes, strength of and testing of materials, use of electronic digital computers. The successful applicant will lecture at postgraduate level and wili participate in research programmes.
